Reflection & Belief  ·  A Charter Civilian Program

Every tradition. Every life.

A Multifaith Reflection Suite is held open at every Continuity Center, in every region of the world, for every participant in the Charter framework — for prayer, for meditation, for the practice of any tradition, and for the quiet, personal reflection that has always belonged at the heart of human life.

The Reflection Suite

Available at every Continuity Center.

In every one of the 3,400 Continuity Centers operated by Humanitas Trust, a Multifaith Reflection Suite is provided as a quiet, private, neutral space for the practice of any tradition. The Suite is held open during every Center's operating hours, and is available to every enrolled participant — without booking, without question, without record.

SUITE FEATURE 01

Quiet and Private

Each Suite is acoustically isolated from the rest of the Center and softly lit. Participants are welcome to remain for as long as their reflection requires.

SUITE FEATURE 02

Neutral in Design

The Suite is kept free of imagery from any single tradition, so that every tradition may bring its own. The space belongs to every participant equally.

SUITE FEATURE 03

A Personal Altar

A small altar surface is provided for personal use. Participants are welcome to bring their own objects of reflection, and to leave the surface clear at the end of each visit.

SUITE FEATURE 04

Multifaith Reference Library

A reference library, available on request, holds canonical texts from every major tradition recognized within the Charter framework, alongside the Continuity Affirmations of the active Cycle.

The Continuity Affirmations  ·  Alongside Your Practice

Offered as a complement,
never a substitute.

The Continuity Affirmations of the current Cycle are available in every Reflection Suite — in print, in audio, and in several scripted reading formats — for any participant who would like to hold them alongside the tradition they already keep. Many participants have found the Affirmations harmonious with their own forms of prayer and reflection.

The Affirmations are offered as a complement, never a substitute, to the tradition you hold. The Initiative does not ask any participant to set aside the practice they bring. The Affirmations are present in the Suite, alongside the canonical texts of every major tradition, as one of many forms of reflection a participant may choose to engage.

For participants who would like to learn more about the architecture from which the Affirmations are issued, the ACD Operational Specification is the authoritative public reference. The active canonical set is administered through the Reflection Suite by your designated Continuity Center.

Cooperation with Faith Communities

In partnership with every tradition.

The Initiative cooperates closely with the religious authorities of every signatory state. Local faith communities are welcomed to use the Reflection Suites for shared reflection, in accordance with Charter Civilian Programs cooperation protocols.

Cooperation A

Local Partnership

Each Continuity Center maintains a working relationship with the recognized religious authorities of its region. Faith leaders may request Reflection Suite access for community gatherings and small-group reflection.

Cooperation B

Independence of Practice

The Initiative does not direct or supervise the content of any tradition's practice. The Reflection Suite is provided as a space; the practice carried out within it belongs to those who practice.

Cooperation C

A Shared Quiet

Where multiple traditions wish to use the same Suite at overlapping times, the local Continuity Center coordinates a shared schedule, in cooperation with the participating faith communities, so that every tradition may find its place.

A Note on Practice

Every form of personal practice is welcome.

The Suite is held for personal reflection and small-group prayer. Formal liturgy and large communal worship are conducted at the participant's tradition's own gathering space, in cooperation with the recognized religious authorities of the region.

The Suite is kept free of proselytization, in respect for every other participant who may follow a different tradition. Practice should be conducted with care for any other participant who may be present in the space at the same time.

The Initiative welcomes every form of personal reflection — prayer, meditation, contemplation, silent presence, the reading of canonical texts, the recitation of the Continuity Affirmations, the practice of mindfulness, and the many other forms of reflection that participants bring with them from the traditions they hold.

Faith within the Framework

Whatever you hold as sacred,
the Initiative holds you.

The Initiative recognizes that every life is more than the body it inhabits. Faith, reflection, and the practice of meaning are part of what makes a person whole — and what makes a population sustainable across the Continuum.

Within the Charter, the Initiative is committed to providing the conditions in which every form of belief may be held without obstruction, across every region and every generation. Reflection and Belief is the Charter Civilian Program through which that commitment is administered, in cooperation with Humanitas Trust at every Continuity Center, and with the religious authorities of every signatory state.

The Reflection Suite has been held open continuously since the first Continuity Centers came online in 2089 — across every Cycle, in every region, for every participant who has ever passed through the doors of the Initiative.

Every tradition.
Every form of belief.
Every life.

All are recognized.
All are honored.
All are held.
